WAVE opened
its radio studio on December 30, 1933, on the 15th floor of The Brown
Hotel, its 239-foot tower perched like a giant Erector Set on the rooftop.
The first program aired by the station originated from the Crystal
Ballroom and was part of a nationwide NBC Network salute to its new
affiliate. |
